Women bump, men collide
0 Comments | Leicester Mercury, Jul 2, 2010
WHEN it comes to accidents, women are more likely to have bumps while men are more prone to head-on collisions.
Women drivers are more likely to put in claims for collisions on roundabouts and hitting cars from behind, a study of more than two million accidents over five years by insurance company Diamond found.
As well as having headon collisions, men were more likely to hit crash barriers and trees or drive down embankments.
Men were also more likely than women to drive through floods or suffer a vehicle fire, according to the study.
Women suffered more than men from having their car broken into and having contents stolen.
Diamond’s managing director Sian Lewis said: “It’s very strange that men’s cars are more likely to catch fire than women’s.
“One reason why women are more likely to have their car broken into is perhaps because they’re more likely to leave expensive items on show than men.”

Football: MEN (Utd) IN TIGHTS!

THE only thing missing from Manchester United’s kitbag yesterday was make-up, rollers and a sun-bed in the dressing-room to top up the players’ tans.
During yesterday’s Manchester derby, Sir Alex Ferguson’s players showed their feminine side and paid a heavy price as they were barracked by rival City fans.
Ryan Giggs was subjected to sarcastic wolf-whistles when he came on to the pitch wearing a pair of black tights, (pictured left) designed to support his dodgy hamstrings.
And Cristiano Ronaldo almost came on wearing a pair of diamond- studded earrings before he was told to take them off by fourth official Mark Halsey wolf tanning beds

PLAN AHEAD
Make sure your digital camera is in good working order before you go, and keep it in a water- and shock-resistant case. Bring two sets of rechargeable batteries and don?t forget the charger and relevant cords. Make sure your camera has enough memory. Packing an extra memory card is wise, as there is nothing worse than running out of room for pictures halfway down the Grand Canyon. photo birth announcements
Taking the helm
0 Comments | Grimsby Telegraph, Jul 28, 2010 | by Faye Preston
FROM a village pub to a village restaurant – this couple have got the recipe for success just right.
Former managers of the Livesey Arms in Ludborough, Sally and Lee Austin have taken over well-known Covenham restaurant The Mill House, after the former owners retired.
Fred and Pat Verity owned the Mill House for 26 years, earning it a well-deserved reputation for good food and a great atmosphere.
But tough economic times saw the restaurant’s trade dip more recently and now Sally and Lee, who ran the Livesey Arms for three years, have ambitions to take it back to its heyday.
And so far, it looks like a turnaround in trade is firmly on the menu.
Sally said: “We have been overwhelmed to be honest – we are fully booked tonight. It has been a great success so far.
“We have had good support from the village and people in the surrounding area, Grimsby and Louth.”
Sally and Lee have revamped the menu and have plans for a marquee for weddings and large functions.
Sally continued: “We are very excited. “It is a lovely place to live and there is a lot of scope here. We just want to get it right.
“There is huge potential here reputation management
Crash suspicion

INDIA has refused to rule out sabotage in a train crash that killed more than 60 people and injured dozens more.
The crash happened when a fast-moving express slammed into another train as it left the platform at Sainthia, about 125 miles north of Calcutta.
Three carriages of the second train were destroyed, leaving a tangle of twisted metal. Two were reserved for passengers on the cheapest tickets and are usually packed to capacity.
The impact was so great the roof of one carriage was hurled on to an overpass above the tracks.

Algae bursts
0 Comments | Leicester Mercury, Jun 30, 2010
RECENT warm weather has triggered bursts of algae on the surface of the county’s reservoirs and lakes.
Blankets of spirogyra, a type of green algae, float to the surface in hot, sunny conditions. A Severn Trent spokeswoman said although it wasn’t “aesthetically attractive” the algae posed no threat to water quality and is removed before entering treatment works.”
An Anglian Water spokesman said no problems had been reported at Rutland Water.

A LITTLE A LITTLE ROMANCE; FASHION WEEK REFLECTS THEMES RANGING FROM THE FRENCH SEASIDE TO THE GLORY DAYS OF JET-SETTER LUXURY.
Daily News Record, February, 2007
MICHAEL KORS
Michael Kors bore the tag “designer to the American jet set” long after the luster of the notion had faded. The jet set is a pretty sad display nowadays, a herd of suburbanites in sweatpants, waiting for the X-ray machine to spit out their Ugg boots, then lining up in front of Cinnabon.
But Kors’ latest collection, a wholehearted embrace of luxury, dignity and good taste-the kind that used to be the hallmark of America’s well-bred-restored his theoretical clients to their former glory.
Kors went back to the luxury basics that worked so reliably for him in years past. Crisp white poplin shirts popped against cashmere V-neck pullovers michael kors boots
After about three to four weeks without exercise, you’ll start losing muscle (fitness experts will tell you that losing muscle is the WORST thing we can do when trying to lose fat!). Source: Shape magazine; June 2005.
We agree, it just doesn’t seem fair that fat ‘goes on’ faster than it comes off and now we learn that we can get ‘out of shape’ in just a few short weeks! Hey, we don’t write these rules, we just report them!
So what’s the take-home advice? Stay consistent in your workouts. Get into the gym at least three times each week. Can’t make it three times? Two is better than none! For that matter, one exercise session is better than none! We only really backtrack in our fitness levels when we quit exercising completely.
Consistency is the key, so let’s all take whatever steps we need to take to make sure we’re getting to the gym regularly. Maybe we need to set an appointment to work out with a friend. Maybe we need to go to the gym early, before the day gets crazy. resveratrol side effects
